Why do I need video to promote my business?
Video engages all three styles of learning; visual, auditory and kinesthetic. No matter the primary learning style of your potential clients, you know video will relate to them all on a fundamental level. If you make your video fun and engaging, everyone will want to learn more.
Can't I just use my smart phone?
Of course you can use your smart phone. Today’s phones are portable, convenient, and have the capability to shoot 1080p videos, so there is no question you can shoot your own video using your smart phone. If that’s the route you want to go, however, you will have to take into consideration your time, the lighting, camera angles, your camera person, audio quality, and finally the editing. We understand that people try to do it themselves in an effort to keep costs down, but remember the old cliché: ‘you get what you pay for.’ As a business owner, you need to be focused on growing your business, not wrestling with trying to turn a smart-phone video selfie into an effective, professional-grade marketing campaign. Hire a professional.
Why should I pay someone to do it? Can't I just get a friend to help me?
We see this question way too often, and the answer is yes, you can get a friend or family member to help you shoot your videos. Time and time again we receive sub-par videos from business owners asking if we can repair their errors. We are asked to fix poor audio, videos filmed using the wrong settings, quality issues, background distraction issues, etc, etc. It is frustrating for the business owner, time-consuming, and can get expensive. All of these issues are concerns you shouldn’t have to be thinking about. I recommend you save yourself the stress headaches. Consult with and hire professionals to get the best end results, and to get it done right the first time.
What can I expect from a video shoot?
We have a very detailed process from start to finish:
1) Initial discovery meeting to understand your goals for your video
2) Story board to provide you with our recommended concept and how the video should be shot
3) Script if required, written ahead of time and reviewed by our team
4) Script and teleprompt reading (and coaching if needed)
5) Recommendations for the day of the shoot, including:
– Make sure you get lots of rest the night before
– Drink warm tea before the shoot to loosen up your throat (you may need to do several takes)
– Wear comfortable clothes and shoes
– Get ready to have fun and laugh
6) We will prep you with a microphone and even help you with where you need to stand.

What is the difference between a cinematographer and a videographer?
A videographer is someone who knows how to work a video camera. They know which way to point it and how to capture an image. Sometimes they even manage to capture a good one. They can be anybody from the people who follow around the ENG team going from crash scenes to press conferences, to your cousin who just spent a bunch of money on a good camera and is “starting a video business”.

A cinematographer is someone who has studied the craft, studied cameras and their capabilities, studied light and shadow, and even studied the electrical workings of cameras and lighting. They are not only capable of capturing a scene, but can create it. A cinematographer knows that shadows can be just as interesting and sometimes even more important than the light in a scene or on a subject.

Let’s face it, in today’s digital age it’s easy to set up a digital camera or camcorder, look in the LCD viewfinder to see that it’s all focused, and hit record. A cinematographer can build that look and feel that often becomes just as much a part of your intended message as the information or product you are trying to convey. The difference, is immense.
